O, Say, Can You Sing? Community Chorus Looking for Singers

One of the top events of the year in town is always the fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day. This year, special programming is being added to honor the town’s centennial celebration.

Volunteer singers are welcome to join the Wake Forest Singers and Wake Forest Baptist Church Choir during the Centennial Fireworks Celebration at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School’s Trentini Stadium on Friday, July 3.

Speaking of high schools, quash this rumor

This article by T. Keung Hui of the News&Observer aims to put an end to a rumor floating around that the historic football stadium at Wake Forest Rolesville High School will be permanently flooded as part of the renovation that will take place next year. It will not, according Hui’s sources. Observers may see berms installed to control erosion around the field during construction, however.

Wake Forest resident Austin Shaw was recently awarded the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. He was one of 100 people from around the country honored for their voluntarism. 

Shaw, 18, organized a 5K race to raise money for a Ugandan vocational school. He plans to continue the Steps for Schools 5K again next year.
