Jeremie Tice launched two home runs, and T.J. House shut down the Lynchburg Hillcats to aid the Carolina Mudcats’ 5-2 victory in front of 1,054 on Wednesday night at Five County Stadium.

Carolina improves to 9-9 with the win, and Lynchburg falls to 10-7.

House (2-0) was terrific in his fourth outing for Carolina. The lefty held the high-powered Lynchburg offense to two runs, scattered three hits, walked three and struck out four.

Jose Flores pitched the ninth to earn his fourth save.

Tice connected on a first homer of the evening against Hillcats’ starter Ronan Pacheco (0-2) in the first inning. With two on, the blast cleared the left-center field wall for a 3-0 lead. His fourth of the season, and second of the night, came against reliever Blaine Sims to lead off the fifth.

Giovanny Urshela had four hits for the Mudcats. Tyler Holt and Delvi Cid extended their hitting streaks to five games. Carolina finished with 13 hits in the game.

Braeden Schlehuber drove in both runs for Lynchburg with a third inning home run and a single in the fifth.

The final game of the series between Carolina and Lynchburg is Thursday morning at 11 a.m. Right-hander Brett Brach (0-0, 7.04) will start against the Hillcats’ right, J.R. Graham (2-0, 3.00). Tickets are available through the box office by calling (919) 269-2287 or visitingcarolinamudcats.com.
