Get your planting gloves on because the Wake Forest Annual HerbFest is coming soon!

The Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment is proud to present the 13th Annual Wake Forest HerbFest.   This popular annual event has been offering attendees the greatest selection of organic herb plants and local grown perennials in one place for the last twelve consecutive years.  Over 40,000 herb plants grown organically from organic seeds or cuttings.  Heritage organic tomatoes and heritage vegetables are also available grown from organic seeds.   Live remote broadcast of The Weekend Gardener show on Sat. April 21.

Admission is free, live entertainment on the weekends is provided at no charge.   This year the first 3 days are devoted to the traditional “Herbanite” – the true gardening/herb enthusiast looking to start soon with the most unusual hard to find herbs.   Weekend two is dedicated to the Franklin Academy Dog Daze, with SNAP-NC offering discounted micro chips and vaccinations to dogs and cats. The Franklin Academy student government student council will have a dog wash with proceeds benefitting the GJCAE.   Franklin Academy students will perform during the day, including the outstanding Franklin Academy Jazz Band.   Live ducks, rabbits and reptiles (Millennium Academy)  will be present for the children to see.  See schedule here.

Local elementary school students arrive during the week , via scheduled field trips, and are educated on food, herbs and have hands on learning that includes a tasting of rosemary lemonade and learning how to make a natural flea repellent for the family dog.  The Herbfest founders feel planting a garden is a great family experience and allows families to bond while also learning together about gardening, cooking,  and proper nutrition, making the HerbFest “the perfect opportunity to kick off the gardening season and learning together some new recipes and tips for making their herb gardens a success.”

Proceeds from the event support the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment which promotes arts programming in schools and communities.

Bring a chair and lounge and enjoy.   Beer wagon available featuring local microbrews during festival.

Each year attendees are taught the lore and legend of the use of herbs in history.  Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has aired multiple shows on the fun and attraction of attending the annual HerbFest.
