WCPSS Urging Parents to Register Kindergartners By Next Thursday

The Wake County Public School System urges parents to enroll their rising kindergartners and new students for the 2012-13 school year by Thursday, April 12. Parents must register their children and make school selections by 10 p.m. Thursday to be considered for seats in their preferred schools.

WCPSS will hold two bilingual Spanish and English enrollment events next week to walk parents through the process. The events will take place at the Martin Street Baptist Church in Raleigh (Monday, April 9, 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.) and at the Wake County Housing Authority in Fuquay-Varina (Thursday, April 12, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.). Parents and guardians must bring a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate, proof of address and other documents. (For a complete list of documents, please visithttp://assignment.wcpss.net/enroll)

Parents may also enroll their children at any WCPSS school during that location’s designated enrollment hours (please contact the school), or at WCPSS Central Services, located at 5625 Dillard Drive, Cary, NC. Enrollment hours at WCPSS Central Services are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will be extended to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, and Thursday, April 12.

Parents who already have pre-enrolled their children, but who have not yet made their school selections may do so in person at the enrollment events or WCPSS Central Services, or online at http://assignment.wcpss.net/choose/Parents who have pre-enrolled their children but have not made their school choices must do so by Thursday.

For more information, parents may call 919-431-7333 or emailstudentassignment@wcpss.net.
