Wake County Launches new WakeGov.com Website Oct. 2

Wake County government will launch a fully redesigned Web site at WakeGov.com on Tuesday for the first time in seven years.

The new website includes an array of easy to use features to take full advantage of the way people currently use the web. Many of the new design features were based on feedback gathered from Wake County residents.

With its improved search options and streamlined design, the new WakeGOV will quickly link users to the content they need, from various mobile devices as well as traditional computers.

“Technology, particularly the web, changes rapidly, and we want to stay in a position where we can leverage these changes to improve the services we offer,” said County Manager David Cooke. “Our new site is a reflection of the latest technology advances combined with the feedback of our users. We are proud of our new site, and we have a flexible design, so the site will continue to evolve to meet new service needs as they arise.”

The project team will introduce the site at the Monday, October 1, 2012, Board of Commissioners meeting. Watch the presentation live online at 2 p.m. to get a preview (wakegov.com/commissioners then select “watch live”), and then try out the new site the next morning at www.wakegov.com.

The project team has worked with a team of web content contributors from all departments for nine months to prepare the new site. This is the first upgrade to WakeGOV since 2005.

Wake County was recently recognized as a 2012 Digital County and received a Digital Government Achievement Award from the Center for Digital Government.
